Teaching Sessions
The RHSM Music Curriculum Plan has a structured guide of Growth Levels in Music Education for students ranging from Pre-K through Twelfth Grade. Depending on age and abilities, students can move up the GRID at his or her own pace or at an accelerated pace. Students are encouraged and not pushed to grow and excel.
Our Kindergarten or Pre-Primary curriculum is designed to balance work and play and awaken a student’s love for learning the piano. Students move naturally and without pressure through each learning grade level. Activities are developed to support student growth and are designed to inspire and motivate. Students learn that music like any other discipline or sport requires focus and practice.
We provide private one–on–one sessions both in–Studio and in–Home. Weekly lessons are scheduled for either 1 hour or 45 minutes time frames predicated on the student’s level, age, aptitude, and style of learning. Students are encouraged to grow within their “skill-set”, and most times they are “stretched” outside – above and beyond their level.
Please note that Group sessions are not offered by the Studio. 30 minute lessons are offered, but only to the younger student ages 4 through 5. It is impossible to conduct a well rounded learning session in 30 minutes for advanced and older students.
In TWO or more–Sibling households, we offer the “ALTERNATE ROUNDED SPLIT LESSON”– 45 minutes and 30 minute sessions resulting in each student receiving at least 2–45 minute and OR 2–30 minute session per month. Please note however, as students mature and grow musically, the splits will move to 1 hour and 45 minutes splits.
The ideal plan would be for each student to have FOUR - 45 minutes or FOUR - 1 Hour sessions per month.
Note: A student who receives weekly 1 hour lessons tends to advance at a faster pace.
Note: When time is split between siblings, it is essential that parents supervise and encourage homework practice sessions. There is not enough time for drill-practice during lesson time.
